Enexis installs 100,000th Smart Meter with Vodafone M2M
Enexis, one of the largest energy network operators in the Netherlands, has successfully installed its 100,000th smart meter, in partnership with Vodafone. Enexis started installing smart meters in October 2009 after the European Union (EU) introduced a directive in 2008 stipulating that 80% of energy customers must be able to monitor energy consumption by the end of this decade. M2M technology cuts firm’s CO2 emissions by 600 tonnes a year

Vodafone data revs up 22 per cent in a year
Data revenues now account for 14.5 per cent of the company's £43 billion in service revenues. Vodafone made £46.4bn in the year to March 31st, and a fall in profits from £7.9bn to £7bn. The figures bore out the received wisdom that voice is being commoditised and squeezed. Its voice revenue fell from £27.2bn to £25.7bn as users turned increasingly to OTT messaging services and VoIP.
