Melrose to Acquire Elster, Smart Meter Giant, for $2.3B
British firm Melrose to acquire the German metering giant for the rumored $20.50 per share. German smart metering giant Elster Group SE on Friday announced that it has agreed to an acquisition by British buyout firm Melrose PLC, for $20.50 per American Depository Share, or about $2.3 billion. Worldwide Smart Meter Shipments Fell by 15% in the First Quarter of 2012 as North American Programs Wind Down
After a relatively frantic acceleration period from 2009 to 2011, the smart meter market is cooling off. The global smart meter industry shipped nearly 7 million meters in the first quarter of 2012, with shipments up 28.8 percent year over year, according to IDC Energy Insights' latest Worldwide Quarterly Smart Meter Tracker. Almost one third of U.S. households now have smart meters
As of May 2012, almost one-in-three U.S. households now have a smart meter, up from about one-in-four households in September 2011, according to a new report from the Institute for Electric Efficiency (IEE). By mid-decade, more than half the households in the country will have a smart meter, the IEE projects. Online tool to help consumers save money on energy bills launched in U.S.
The U.S. Energy Department has launched an interactive web platform, the Utility Data Access Map tool, which enables electric utilities across the country to show consumers the data they can access on their electricity use.
