Berg Insight says Germany will decide the future of the European smart metering industry in 2013

Elektrilevi concludes contract for installation of remote-readable meters in Estonia
Ericsson Estonia has been declared the successful tenderer in the public procurement organised by network operator Elektrilevi for the supply and installation of nearly 630,000 remote-readable meters over the next four years. The global smart meter industry shipped nearly 7 million meters in the first quarter of 2012, with shipments up 28.8 percent year over year, according to IDC Energy Insights' latest Worldwide Quarterly Smart Meter Tracker. The U.S. Energy Department has launched an interactive web platform, the Utility Data Access Map tool, which enables electric utilities across the country to show consumers the data they can access on their electricity use.
