Smart meter revenue in Europe is expected to grow from $318.4 million in 2010 to $1.93 billion in 2017 at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 29.3 percent, according to a new analysis from Frost & Sullivan. The smart meter installed base in Europe is expected to grow from 43.9 million in 2010 to 200.43 million in 2017 at a CAGR of 24.2 percent. TEPCO to install 17 million smart meters by 2019

Japanese utility Tokyo Electric Power Company is to install 17 million smart meters in households by March 2019 as part of its efforts to increase efficiency, according to an AFP News report quoting the Nikkei news. The total investment is said to be estimated at around 200 billion yen (US$2.6 billion), with the target price of the meter not more than 10,000 yen (US$130) per unit.
