Spireon Reaches 2.4 Million Subscribers, Becoming Industry’s Largest Aftermarket Vehicle Telematics Company

Spireon to Debut Its Open Connected Vehicle Platform at IoT Evolution Conference.

Spireon, Inc., today announced it has reached 2.4 million active subscribers for its suite of GPS tracking solutions, becoming the industry’s largest non-OEM vehicle telematics company. Additionally, Spireon will reveal its open connected vehicle platform at this year’s IoT Evolution Conference and Expo, showcasing the platform’s capacity to serve a growing field of customers, which now includes consumers and insurers.

“Spireon’s open connected vehicle platform is a powerful representation of the commitment our company has in helping customers realize the full potential of Big Data insight from their connected vehicles and assets,” said Marc Brungger, Spireon’s chief executive officer.
“We are confident that the power of our open platform will continue to propel Spireon and our customers to new heights in today’s Internet of Things era.”

Open Connected Vehicle Platform

Through Spireon’s NSpire open platform, the company works with partners and developers to create applications that get the most out of the rich Big Data insights generated from connected vehicles and assets. The platform collects and processes high volumes of data from any GPS connected vehicle or asset, and then presents the critical information through vertical-specific user interfaces on any Internet connected device.

As new vehicles, applications and connections increase or change, the open APIs (application programming interfaces) provide flexibility for Spireon and our customers and partners to customize, add new functionality, and have reliable access to the most important assets and information without any costly and complicated re-engineering of systems.

“Our partnership with Spireon is rooted in their advanced technology, and the open platform has been a major competitive advantage,” added Spireon customer Jim Aubuchon, chief executive officer at Premier Trailer Leasing. “Spireon was the only solution we found that allowed us to truly customize a solution to our user base.”

Insurance Telematics is the latest category in which Spireon’s NSpire open platform will add tremendous value. Insurance telematics and usage-based insurance (UBI) programs can provide much more than simple price discounts for drivers based on a brief sampling of driving behavior. Spireon’s NSpire platform is always on, and with over 2.4 million active subscribers, represents a huge opportunity for insurers to harness the power of an extensive install base with rich data.

“We are redefining the relationships we have with our customers and partners with our open approach,” added Jim Brady, Spireon’s chief product officer.

“Spireon NSpire reinforces our unique position in the marketplace – offering an open platform that gives our customers total flexibility in bringing data to life for any connected vehicle and with any device.”
