Vodafone launches its first all-in-one M2M remote monitoring package

Vodafone today announced the launch of its first all-in-one M2M package for the remote monitoring and control of M2M enabled devices.

Combining three key elements – hardware, wireless network connectivity and application software – Vodafone’s Remote Monitoring & Control Service (RMCS) will make it easier for companies to implement M2M, minimise downtime, improve service and reduce costs.

One of the promises of M2M technology is the ability to accurately monitor M2M enabled assets remotely. This gives businesses a comprehensive view of the status of their devices so that they can take action when necessary, for instance alerting a distributor when a vending machine is out of soft drinks or a maintenance team when an air conditioning unit is overheating. RMCS creates an integrated option which will help to manage proactively any estate of M2M devices.

Erik Brenneis, Director of M2M, Vodafone, said:
The ability to remotely monitor and maintain assets has become a major differentiator for many businesses seeking to deliver value to customers.

“Our solution coupled with secure connectivity, best in class M2M service platform and a superior network, is helping transform the way companies are using M2M.”

In addition, our fully integrated package provides clients with an all-in-one M2M solution that can be implemented on a global scale – setting us apart from the competition.”

Customers can rely on Vodafone’s international mobile network for data transfer while the company’s global M2M SIM card is designed to work on all networks across the globe. Users can manage their SIM card settings and check the quality of their connections at any time on the global M2M service platform.

Connected machines are monitored in real-time. The software components constantly record all performance and operational data allowing an immediate overview and analysis of the devices’ operating status. If an error occurs, the system automatically sends out an alarm – for example, via a text message to the appropriate service technician – and pinpoints the location of the problem.

The new end-to-end Integrated RMCS solution further expands Vodafone’s comprehensive range of M2M offerings. With 11 million M2M connections and over 250 M2M specialists around the world, Vodafone is a leading provider in this fast-growing market and was recognised in February 2013 as an M2M Industry Icon by Analysys Mason in its independent M2M scorecard report.
